About Bristol International Airport
Bristol International Airport (AITA: BRS) originally started as a runway for a flying club of local businessmen. Created in 1929, the runway was created, and in 1930 Prince George officially opened the airport - the third airport in Britain.
During World War 2, Bristol Airport was the only airport in all of the UK that still operated civil flights.
In 1955, a new airport was built - the Bristol Lulsgate Airport. This was opened in 1957.
Today, over 4 million passengers a year pass through the airport, largely due to the expansion of Easyjet and Ryanair.
