About Liverpool John Lennon Airport

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (IATA: LPL) is one of the fastest growing airports in Europe, quadrupling its traffic to over 3.5 million passengers a year. The airport itself is located 7 miles southeast of Liverpool's centre. Originally created as Speke Airport, it opened in 1933. By 1966 a new runway was created, and it was in 2002 that the airport was renamed to John Lennon, in honor of the Beatles' member.
