Dublin Airport Details

Overview

Dublin Airport is one of the busiest airports in Europe serving over 20 million passengers a year and offering nearly 200 flight routes. The airport is located 6 miles (10km) north of Dublin city centre with easy access to the M1 and the M50. If you are driving to the airport you might prefer to park in one of the nearby 'park and fly' car parks which will transfer you to the terminal with ease on the courtesy shuttle buses. On-airport parking is of course available as well, in fact there are in excess of 18,000 spaces. The Short Term car parks are located relatively close the terminal they serve (ie., T1 or T2) whilst the Long Stay car parks provide a 24 hour shuttle bus service to the terminal.

Facilities

If you find yourself at the wrong terminal (or in need of refreshments as these are limited in Terminal 2 until after security) then there is pedestrian access between Terminal 1 and the short term car park at Terminal 2. In Terminal 1, the check-in desks are located on the first floor and the food court is on the second floor. In Terminal 2, the check-in desks are located on the ground floor. Both terminal buildings have toilets, currency exchange and baby changing facilities before and after security. Once you have passed through security, both Terminals have a Departures Lounge, pharmacy and retail outlets selling luxury gifts and branded clothing at 'The Loop'. There are also numerous coffee shops and fast food, bars, cafe and restaurant menus. If you want a bit of peace and quiet, away from the tempting shopping centres, there are VIP lounges serving both terminals. You can pre-book a time slot for accessing the lounge which also entitles you to free snacks and drinks, complimentary newspapers and magazines, and free WiFi. The lounges are comfortably furnished and equipped with television, fax machines and flight information screens.
